Dotted French

Hey everyone!

I know, I know. I've been MIA for so long. I won't make up excuses for that. But just to sum it all up, I needed to fix my life. But I never forgot my love for nail art.

Anyway, what I'll share with you today is my most recent nail art that I wanted to call Dotted French



Here, I used OMG First Date as the base coat with Girl Stuff Matte Magic on top.




I've recently been purchasing OMG nail colors. Aside from their wide range of attractive colors, they really are budget friendly. This specific color is less pigmented so I had to use 4 thin coats of polish.

I then dotted different sizes on different places using OMG Bahama Blue and OMG Atlantis. But I only placed the dots on the tip of my nails for a French manicure effect. Then, dabbed on some top coat on the dots for added contrast.

So that's it. I hope you guys liked my comeback post. I do hope to post regularly now. But less pictures for the meantime (just about 2-4 pictures per post)

Nail Art - M&M's

Hey lovelies! How's everyone? It's been such a long time since I last created a blog post. I've been missing this big time. I'm still struggling to manage my time so I can post regularly again. But for the mean time, I got some nail art for you all.

Last month, I joined a contest held by Caronia Philippines. Caronia has been one of the leading brands of nail polish and nail care products for as long as I can remember. Last month’s theme is to create a chocolate inspired nail design. And this is what I came up with.

I already did this design previously on a friend’s nail. But I think I drew this better this time. I used different Caronia nail polishes as base color and drew in the M&M’s face. I drew different expression to add some character.

I really believe that I did well on this design since I got quite some compliments from my co-workers with my nails – And without me showing them my nails. I really loved the attention my nails got during that day.

It’s been easier for me to do this since my first try, considering that I did these on my own nails. Here’s a closer look on my two fat m&m’s. J

Caronia usually requires a beauty shot of the designs showing your face. Although, last month, it was not requires, I still sent them a picture showing my face, and I liked how it looks. This is my entry.

Although I did not win, I am happy with my experience on doing this nails as well as the result. Also, I do not mind losing especially if the winners are deserving of their price. And they are very worth all the prizes they receive.

Day 27 – Inspired by an Artwork

Hey guys! Today is one of the days I am very excited about. This post will show you Day 27 of the challenge which is Inspired by an Artwork.

I celebrated my last birthday at Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam. I saw a lot of wax statues and famous things in the museum. One of them is what inspired me for this design. I’ve been wanting to try this on my nails but didn’t get the time to do it.

Piet Mondrian is famous for his geometric paintings. Here is a sample of his work.

The design looks simple although would take a lot of time to do especially for a person like me that have a shaky hand. But the results are totally worth it.

I decided to “divide” parts of the artwork on each of my nails since I don’t think it would fit on just one nail. It also gives a fun look since no nail is identical.

I started painting all of my nails white as base color before drawing the other shapes. With the help of a nail art pen and a nail art brush, I was able to draw lines on and parallelograms on my nails. As you might have notices, those lines are not as crisp and straight, as I’ve mentioned, I really have a shaky hand.

I love the overall look of this design. It’s very simple but still catchy.

Day 21 – Inspired by a Color

Hey there! We’re now starting the third and last part of the challenge: Inspirations. And for Day 21 we have Inspired by a color.

Most of the nail enthusiasts who did this challenge chose to recreate a color based on the name (most of them inspired by a nail polish color). I chose to do it differently.

I found tinkgurlnails’ crayola design very inspiring and appealing. So I decided to “copy” her design.

Since we’re dealing with colors, I think I still followed the theme. I gathered a couple of commonly used Crayola and painted on my four nails. Then I used a darker shade of the same colors to use as tips. I used a nail art brush to do that. Then with the help of my nail art polish, I striped in a thick black line and added the curves using the same color as the “crayon’s wrapper”

On my thumb I drew in green lines and the brand Crayola as what children would’ve seen in their boxes.

I’m impressed on how I was able to do this on my nails. It’s kinda cute and child friendly. Too bad I don’t know a lot of kids to show this off.

Day 9 - Rainbow

At the end of the rainbow there is a pot of gold, I will be there and the gold will be mine.

Hi guys! Before anything else, I would like to apologize for the blurry pictures. I didn't realize it till now that I am posting it.

Today's challenge is the Rainbow Nails.

I decided to use my fan brush for the first time since I got it last year. As you would notice I really need more (and I really mean more) practice on this one. But I liked how each of the colors blend in the middle. I’m not really sure if it’s with my polish, the brush or my application skills

I use white as base color before applying the other colors. It went pretty smooth at first but as the polish thickens, the application becomes pain in the neck.

I am just planning to put in the colors on the nails as it is, but my sister suggested that I add something gold (because of the quote I mentioned on the beginning of this post). I tried to draw a “pot of gold” but didn’t turn out the way I liked. My nephew even said it looks like a garbage bag. Haha!

So I decided to paint on the rainbow colors on my thumb and add on gold glitters instead. And I’m happy on how it turned out.

Do you really think there’s a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?

Day 5 – Blue

Today is the fifth day of the Challenge. What I have for you is Blue. Just like green, I don’t have a blue polish that I haven’t showed on my blog yet. But I decided I’d use a color that I haven’t posted here.

This is SanSan Warm Blue. SanSan is also a local brand, it’s an exclusive product of HBC. Just like most of my polish, SanSan Warm Blue is a regular light blue crème polish. It has a very good formula and consistency. and the best feature is that you only need two coats for it to be opaque.

Aside from a shiny finish even without the top coat, the light blue shade also appeals to me.

This shade of blue reminds me of a very clear sky and a beautiful weather to go to the beach.

So I decided to paint my accent nails some clouds and sponge in the ocean. Yes, that’s the cloud up there. I think the colors that I used doesn’t really look like a cloud.

Nonetheless, I like how this turned out. Reminds me of summer. I am more of a summer person. Especially that here in my country, we only have two season -- summer and rainy (I think that’s kind of like autumn in most countries). Blue skies and white clouds gives me hope and brings in a positive feeling for me. I love sunrise.

When I was in Holland, I stumbled upon nailside’s blog, (if you’re a fan of nails, you better check her blog.) She’s also from Netherlands, and she was the one who introduced me to some drug stores that sell cheaper polishes.

She does a lot of tape manis which I would like to try out more. I already did her laser mani way back. And now, I will show you another nail design that I copied from her, the Funky French.

I’m only going to do a simple polish, but I got bored with how it looked like.

I remembered how her mani looked like and decided I’d give it a try. I started cutting strips of tape to use and tried to figure out how I’ll do them. While in the middle of all those cutting, I ruined my thumb a bit. So I decided to just paint the other four. And on the remaining nail, I decided I’d do a simple sun flower.

I wanted to put little dots on the brown part of the flower but after putting one dot, I don’t think I got my desired effect so I just choose to put a face on it.

When I look at it, it looks like the plants vs. zombies’ sunflower. And I find it cute.

Neon Skittles

While I was in Holland, I met a Surinamese. She’s a friend of my mom. She’s very kind and friendly. She let me come with her during her badminton games and we also went to couple of museums together. Before I left, I decided to pay her a visit. My plan is to paint her nails. Nanay (translation: mother) said she also loves cosmetics and painting her nails. (I might post picture of her nails too). So I brought all my polishes with me, so I can do nail art. When she saw my collection, she remembered one polish set that she have that she do not use. And she gave it to me.

It’s a set of bright neon colors. Unfortunately, it does not have any brand or label. I guess its just a cheap polish. But I don’t really care with the price as long as I get what I want.

It was just last week when I tried it out. And its as good as any polish that I own. I love how easy it is to apply on nails. I also love its bright neon colors. I’m not really fond of neons since most of the time, it’s painful to the eyes to look at them. But this polish is just an exemption. Despite it being bright, it’s not harmful to the eyes to look at.

This is how it looks like on my nails.

I decided to use five colors (excluding orange) on all my fingers. This polish is somewhat glazed but doesn’t sparkle that much. I still think it looks like a regular crème polish on my nails. But what’s good in it is with just two coats, you get a good opaque color on your nails.

I don’t want to have same color on same fingers so I decided to move colors a bit.

Here’s how my left hand looks like.

Notice how the colors changed from one finger to the other.

I would also want to show you how it looks close up, but or some strange reasons while I’m looking at the files, a close up of my ring finger is missing, so I will only be able to show you the other four fingers on my right.

I used purple for my thumb.

It somehow looks a little pinkish / fuchsia on picture but its purple in real life. Although, I had a hard time achieving this opacity because the brush for this polish is not as good as the rest. (I ruined some of the tips though)

I used green on my index.

I know I already used this specific color when my mom tried painting my nails. I like the shade of this green.

I painted my middle finger blue.

I like how this finger turned out. It looks velvety to me. One day I might try putting this on with a matte top coat.

As I’ve mentioned, I don’t have a photo of my ring finger,  (I used yellow for that), so I’ll move on to my pinky.

My pinky wears a pink polish.

With sunlight, it somewhat look a bit orange. I also tried to use this for a striped mani with another pink polish, and it looked more orange.

In general, I love how this colors look on my nails. Unlike some other shades, I think they don’t make my fingers look darker.
