Valentine's Cupcakes

Hello dear readers! Valentine’s is fast approaching. Although I do not have a partner to celebrate it with, I am happy on how my life is going. And with my love for nail polish, who needs them anyway? (Of course, I’m kidding. I will still want to spend the rest of my life with someone). Another reason that I am not that excited for the season is that I still feel that it is unnecessary. I believe that you don’t need Valentine’s Day to be sweet and all to your partner. You should do it all the time. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against celebrating Valentine’s. It’s just my opinion.

Anyway, despite the fact I stated above, I still feel obliged to do a Valentine’s nail design. This design is inspired by Halloween Cupcake and Christmas Tree Cupcake, both done by the Simply Rins.

The idea is the same: to create a cupcake that has the symbol of the season. So instead of cherries I added hearts on top. I used Caronia Brick Red as the “cup” and striped some pink polish using Sassy nail art brush in pink. I added the icing using Sassy 2 way Nail art pen in white.

Using BNC 2 way nail art pen, I added the hearts as toppings. I wanted to add more colors as sprinkles. So I used a thin brush and the neon polishes that I have.

This is my first cupcake design. Although I did have a hard time achieving the “drips” on the icing, this design is easy to do yet very attractive. Maybe I’ll try to do a conventional cupcake someday.

Day 29 – Inspired by Supernatural

Hi everyone! There are only three posts left until the end of this challenge. For this post is day 29 which is Inspired by Supernatural.

I’ve had a hard time trying to figure out what to do for this challenge. Mostly because all I ever think about is ghosts and most of the bloggers who did this challenge already had their nails painted with ghosts.

I thought of doing mummies or jack-o-lantern. But my sister said it’s not supernatural. She suggested I do elves.

I don’t know how elves look like, so I decided I’d do the most famous for the holidays, Santa’s Elves. I copied this design from Rina, who by the way has the best nail designs you can possibly see. If you haven’t checked her blog yet, you should. You’re missing half of your nail polish life. Anyway, mine look a lot stouter than hers and I decided to mix and match their hats and outfits, nonetheless, I just followed the instructions on her tutorial.

I used three coats Lycra Astor as base color and nail polish (which I will be listing at the end of this post) for the elves.

So does my elves look like elves? My sister says it looks more of a teddy bear. But, I like it. How about you?

Haunted House and Cats

This post will be my second (and last) Halloween nail design. My ex-boyfriend used to let me paint his nails so that I can practice. (I’m going to show you another design I did on his nails)

This is the Cats and Haunted House nail art, also inspired by Simply Rins. I decided to do this on his hands because I doubt if I can draw the house on my own nails. And besides, orange is his favorite color.

For this design, I copied how Rina made it on her nails, placing the house as accent nails and cats on the rest.

It’s funny how the house looked like a cemetery with the fences I did on its side. I think the fence is too big making it look like crosses on grave yard.

I find it hard to draw the house as well. My tool cannot make very thin lines. And since it looked like mausoleum on his right hand, I decided to put crosses to symbolize gravestones on the left hand. I still think it gave the desired  effect of making it look creepy.

The cats are easy to draw, especially if you would just follow the tutorial.

Crawling Spiders

Hello! I know I have been missing in action for the last couple of days. We don’t have a decent internet connection at home that’s why I’m not able to post my nail designs. But I want to make it up to you by posting my Halloween nails.

For the next this post and the next one, I will be sharing the nail designs I made for Halloween. Both designs are actually done with Simply Rins’ nail art tutorial.

Let me start with the design I made on my own nails, the crawling spider.

You can find the tutorial on Simply Rins’ website. I really love how she drew the spiders. As a twist on what she did, instead of making them all crawl from my nail bed, I decided to make it from different sides.

Even though I think my nails do look good for Halloween, I still think they look like black crabs because of the fat feet.

I also decided to change the eye color on each nail to give them different personality.
