Day 31 – Recreate your Favorite Challenge

Day 31 – Recreate your Favorite Challenge

Hello! Today will be the day the challenge bids farewell to all of us. And for Day 31’s rules is to Recreate your Favorite Challenge.

But before I do that, I just want to share with you the gift I received from my sister last New Year.

This pack includes Sassy 2 way Nail Art Pen in Black, Bobbie Purple Passion and Chic Missy Daisy. I looove all of those and can’t wait to try all of them.

So going back to the challenge, I decided to recreate Day 17 which is glitters. This day isn’t my favorite. But I decided I’d do this for two reasons. One is because I wanted to make up for not posting a better glitter polish and two, so that I’ll have a reason to use my new polish.

I thought I’d use Bobbie Purple Passion. Purple Passion is a very pale purple polish with tons of micro holographic glitters. Here’s how they look like inside the bottle.

Aren’t they lovely? I fell in love the moment I saw it. I tried putting it as it is. But the polish is so sheer that even 3 coats can’t make it opaque. I decided to put a base color instead.

See what I mean? I used Essence Got a Secret as the base color. And even at this angle, you can see the shining shimmering splendid holo glitters. Got a Secret is a gray polish but it started looking like lavender after using Purple Passion. The formula is super okay and application is a breeze. I had 2 coats of Got a Secret and two coats of Purple Passion. One more good thing about this is that it dries quickly and not as thick. I remember my other Bobbie polish will feel thick on my nails.

Here’s a better look at the glitter goodness.

And a closer look.

I think this polish would work well if it will be used like a top coat. I will try to use this on top of different colors one of these days. The polish is so awesome that I cannot stop staring at my nails even the day after (I decided not to remove it yet). These photos do not even give justice on how splendid this polish is. And for just PHP35 (approximately US$0.81), this polish is totally worth it.

What do you guys think?

Day 30 – Inspired by a Tutorial

Hey lovelies. J We’re at the edge of finishing the challenge. I have for you today a mani that is Inspired by a tutorial.

Panlovespolish is the first nail blogger I ever followed. Even before I discovered that there are a lot of nail bloggers, even before I started doing my own nails and even before I made my own nail blog. Her swatches are awesome. And she does a lot of great nail art and a tutorial for them. I already did a couple of nail designs that are inspired by her. Too bad she is not that active anymore. L

So for this second to the last installment, I decided I’d do a nail tutorial from her that I haven’t tried yet, her “Fun” Dots.

I added some twist to her design.

Instead of just doing it diagonally, I decided to write “Year” and “2012”. I think it’s a cute thing since we are fond of wearing and using circle and dots during New Year ’s Eve. It’s also my way of saying hello to the New Year since I wore this design a day before the New Year’s Eve.

I also want to take picture of my hand side by side so that you can read it as a phrase. But my sister had hard time doing that. She kept on laughing at my fat fingers; she said it looks like crab. Hahaha! This is the most decent picture she took.

What do you guys think of  the design?

Day 29 – Inspired by Supernatural

Hi everyone! There are only three posts left until the end of this challenge. For this post is day 29 which is Inspired by Supernatural.

I’ve had a hard time trying to figure out what to do for this challenge. Mostly because all I ever think about is ghosts and most of the bloggers who did this challenge already had their nails painted with ghosts.

I thought of doing mummies or jack-o-lantern. But my sister said it’s not supernatural. She suggested I do elves.

I don’t know how elves look like, so I decided I’d do the most famous for the holidays, Santa’s Elves. I copied this design from Rina, who by the way has the best nail designs you can possibly see. If you haven’t checked her blog yet, you should. You’re missing half of your nail polish life. Anyway, mine look a lot stouter than hers and I decided to mix and match their hats and outfits, nonetheless, I just followed the instructions on her tutorial.

I used three coats Lycra Astor as base color and nail polish (which I will be listing at the end of this post) for the elves.

Here’s how it looks up close.

So does my elves look like elves? My sister says it looks more of a teddy bear. But, I like it. How about you?

Day 28 - Inspired by a Flag

Hi guys! I'm back with the 28th day of the challenge. And for this post I have some nails Inspired by a Flag. I did think of doing a Philippine Flag for this since it’s my country. But I opted to choose another flag that does not represent a country or a state.

I decided to do something simple yet a little unique.

These nails are inspired by a Semaphore Flag.

Semaphore Flags are used to communicate between ships and the port. I am not exactly sure how this works, but I thought the design is pretty simple.

I used Caronia Sweet Surprise as the base color and then “swiped” on the red using Sally Hansen Cardinal.

I loved how simple this has become. I know you won’t easily recognize this at first glance, but it’s worth the try.

Tell me what you think. ;)

Day 27 – Inspired by an Artwork

Hey guys! Today is one of the days I am very excited about. This post will show you Day 27 of the challenge which is Inspired by an Artwork.

I celebrated my last birthday at Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam. I saw a lot of wax statues and famous things in the museum. One of them is what inspired me for this design. I’ve been wanting to try this on my nails but didn’t get the time to do it.

Piet Mondrian is famous for his geometric paintings. Here is a sample of his work.

The design looks simple although would take a lot of time to do especially for a person like me that have a shaky hand. But the results are totally worth it.

I decided to “divide” parts of the artwork on each of my nails since I don’t think it would fit on just one nail. It also gives a fun look since no nail is identical.

I started painting all of my nails white as base color before drawing the other shapes. With the help of a nail art pen and a nail art brush, I was able to draw lines on and parallelograms on my nails. As you might have notices, those lines are not as crisp and straight, as I’ve mentioned, I really have a shaky hand.

I love the overall look of this design. It’s very simple but still catchy.

Tell me what you think.

Day 26 – Inspired by a Pattern

Hey there! Today’s post is a continuation of the 31 day challenge. And today is the 26th installment of it which is Inspired by a Pattern.

There are days in my nail painting life that I ran out of ideas and suck in doing the design. This is one of them. The patterns I saw from other nail bloggers who did this challenge makes me feel worse about what I did.

I literally ran out of idea on what to do on my nails. I wanted something more elegant. But my mind just went blank. I decided to do something very simple – a checkered design. Since it’s still holidays when I did my nails, I opted to go for the holiday colors, green, red and gold. Well, I cheated, that’s not really gold. I used Art Club Bronze for the base color. Then added on some red and green checkered using BNC 2 way nail art pen. I need a lot of practice with this one.

I’m not exactly sure that checkered are patterns. But I want to claim that it is.

What do you guys think of the design?

Day 25 – Inspired by Fashion

Hi there! I made a mistake in doing the challenge during the holiday season. As I’ve mentioned, I had a vacation and was not able to get in front of a computer. That’s why even though I was able to finish the challenge on time, it was only now that I am showing you guys everything. I will have everything scheduled for you so as not to flood you with the post. One post a day. :)

Moving on, this post will show you day 25 of the challenge, which is Inspired by Fashion. From the start of this challenge, I have been thinking what to do for this day. You see, I am not a fashionable girl. Dressing up is the least of my concern when going out. I wouldn’t be surprised if I will be caught by a fashion police one day. So this is a hard one for me. After a lot of thinking, I remembered a simple blouse my sister owns.

Inspired by Fashion

I thought that this would be easy for me to do since it has very simple design. Here’s how it turned out.

I started off with a base color from Elianto which is Novy. Too bad Elianto stopped selling polishes here, and I was only able to grab three colors from them. It was a bit late when I found out that they had a wide range of different colors. Moving on, I used the same technique on this design from my dots within dots, which is by the way inspired by Emerald Sparkled.

I used Elianto Yellow and Caronia Silver Platinum for the dots. This technique is easy since all you need are polish and a dotting tool.

Inspired by Fashion

I am satisfied with how this design went, although I was not able to clean up very small dirt on my skin. Sorry for that, I only get to see it now.

Here’s a closer look on the nails and the blouse.

Holiday Nails

Hi everyone! This post is a bit late for posting. But I went on a vacation during the holidays and was not able to get in front of a computer to have everything uploaded, that’s why I’m uploading it just now.

I know I’m still in the middle of the challenge. But I wanted to share with you my nails for Christmas day. Although I’ve said that I do not personally celebrate the Christmas season, it has been a family tradition to get together and have a small feast. They would also put up a Christmas tree at home.

In the middle of the challenge, before the clock strikes twelve, I decided to do some Holiday mani.

I used Bobbie Touch of Tan as base color so as not to overpower the trees. I then drew Christmas tree as accent nails on my thumb and ring finger. I drew the tree using BNC 2 way nail art pen in green. I used BNC 2 way nail art pen in red for the red Christmas balls and Caronia Silver Platinum and a dotting tool for the silver balls. For the strings (I’m not really sure what it’s called) I used Art Club Bronze.

I drew in the stars on top using neon yellow. Although the stars don’t really resemble a star, I still like how it turned out. Let’s take a closer look at my Christmas tree.

Too bad, I was only able to wear this for few hours since I had to remove in and continue on with the challenge. I liked how the Christmas tree turned out. I’m even planning to add some gifts, but due to time constraints, I was not able to do that.

What do you guys think?
